Your Chance to Give Back
Great Smoky Mountains National Park is home to more than 840 miles of maintained hiking trails. As the most visited national park in the country, you can easily imagine that these trails get a lot of use, some more than others.
GSMA members (and non-members) are invited to join a GSMNP trail crew for a day on three dates this year. Volunteer trail maintenance is not easy work, nor is it for everyone - the hiking, the manual labor, the sweat, the weather, just to name a few of the rigors you'll face - but it's an exciting and rewarding way to be a part of the tremendous effort required to keep this park's trails safe and enjoyable for all.
If you are selected to join the crew, be prepared. Because work sites can be up to 4 miles from your car, you should bring everything you need to manage your day - water and food are a MUST. Clothing must include closed-toed shoes and long pants, as well as rain gear.

Visitor Center Volunteers
If you know your way around the park and enjoy helping others find the best hiking, camping, waterfalls, etc. the Smokies have to offer, then the Gatlinburg Welcome Center on the Spur between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg needs YOU! We are looking for volunteers to help visitors find their way around. If you have a couple of hours a day to help, please email store manager Judy Bowman to talk about a schedule that will best meet your needs.
